Ghost Pops

Banana pops have quickly become Sunbaked’s most popular recipe, and they are yet to disappoint. Here we are making a fun Halloween themed version.

Halloween is a time synonymous with treats, and while it’s generally hard to avoid the bad ones entirely, hopefully we can entice the kids with some more wholesome options. And when it comes to ice cream, it doesn’t get much more wholesome than this!

What You’ll Need For This Recipe

  • Bananas
  • Greek yoghurt (or use coconut yoghurt for a dairy-free option)
  • Raisins
  • Paddle pop sticks

How To Make This With Kids

  • The part that requires a little bit of finesse is the yoghurt coating. This is better done with the guidance of an adult, but there’s nothing wrong with a lumpy coating.
  • Make sure to teach them that when the sticks go in, they aren’t secure until after they’ve been frozen. We’ve made that mistake a few times!

Ingredients

  • 2 large bananas
  • 1 cup Greek yoghurt
  • 8 sultanas

Instructions

  • Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  • Peel the bananas and slice in half. Stick the popsicle sticks into the banana.
  • Carefully spoon the yoghurt over the banana, covering the whole thing and scraping off any excess. Place on the baking tray and add two sultanas for the ghost eyes. Repeat with all banana halves.
  • Place the tray in the freezer for at least two hours or overnight.

Notes

  • These can stay in the freezer for up to a month, but are best consumed within two weeks.
  • If you have really big bananas, you can also chop them into three or four pieces instead of two, to make mini ghost pops!
